Boiron Improves its Distinguished “Blue Tubes”

Newtown Square, Pa., June 1, 2006—Boiron’s traditional “blue tubes,” which have come to symbolize the company, have received a make-over. With a label revised for better readability, these dispensers of single homeopathic medicines are now translucent as opposed to opaque. Consumers can now see how many pellets are left in the tube and plan ahead to replenish their medicine without interrupting their treatment.

Additionally, new colors will visually aid retailers and healthcare professionals in stocking and dispensing these multi-dose tubes. A cap that now matches the color of the tube helps differentiate between the medicines and will make finding the dilution easier for everyone. The new packaging will be:

  • Translucent blue tubes for Boiron’s most popular 84 singles in C dilutions will be available in most health food stores and independent pharmacies
  • Translucent green tubes for X dilutions will be available through select specialty retailers
  • Translucent purple tubes for CK dilutions will be available primarily through healthcare professionals who have integrated homeopathic medicines into their practice

While the colors and percentage of color is different, the tube material is the same along with many other features. Safe and durable for people on the go, the recyclable polypropylene cylindrical tube is shatterproof, waterproof and airtight.

Researchers at Boiron’s world headquarters in Lyon, France, studied the permeability, light transmission and photo stability of the new tube. The study showed that the pellets were unaffected by light or humidity. Neither visible light nor ultraviolet light can permeate the new translucent tubes, proving no need for the tubes to be stored in a dark place.

The weight and size remains constant, so the new tubes easily fit into previous Boiron storage kits. Each tube still contains approximately 80 pellets (or 16 doses).

“Boiron has always been synonymous with high quality and reliable products. The evolution of our packaging through the years from the glass tube and cork caps used during our founding days in the 1930s is a natural progression of our company’s philosophy of excellence,” says Ludovic Rassat, president and CEO of Boiron USA. “Much research has been done regarding the new packaging and it promises to be beneficial to everyone.”

Boiron’s multi-dose tubes of single medicines are sold in health food stores and independent pharmacies for approximately $6.25.
