A Man-to-Man Chat About Men’s Health

Last updated on July 27th, 2022 at 04:25 pm

On that one special Sunday in June, we celebrate the fathers in our lives, but the entire month is dedicated to all our sons, husbands, brothers, and uncles. June is Men’s Health Month and it aims to raise awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection and treatment of disease among men and boys.

According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death in American men. They are also more prone to conditions like hypertension and high cholesterol. Staying active can help prevent and reduce these risks. So, we asked some of the men at Boiron what they do to take care of themselves and this is what they had to say.

A few days with no exercise changes my mood. It’s as if my body and mind were hungry for it. So, I stay fit by trying many types of exercise including resistance training, cardio, endurance, balance, Pilates, and yoga. I also vary my diet and avoid processed or hyper-processed food.

After working out, I like to use Arnicare Cream for body massages. Arnicare Gel is always in gym bag for minor injuries, like kettlebell bruises. I also like to use Ruta graveolens 6C for stretched tendons and ligaments, and Arnica 30C pellets for overexertion and fatigue.

Exercise is important to me because it helps me to feel energized throughout the day. I try to exercise for at least 30 minutes every single day and avoid “maxing out.” Health is a long-term process, so I always try to find the sweet spot between going easy and pushing myself to the limit. I do take a few immune boosting and anti-aging supplements, too. I use Resveratrol, which acts like an antioxidant, protecting the body against damage that can put you at risk for things like cancer and heart disease. I also take an NMN supplement, which helps with heart health, blood flow, eye, brain, bone, muscle and immune function. Last is Berberine, which traditionally is used by those with diabetes but has also been shown to promote heart health.

I love trying new things, especially new activities that get me out of the gym while still helping me stay active. For a while I was running regularly, then I did CrossFit for a little over two years. Lately, I’ve been rock climbing and mountain biking. These have taken a toll on my hands — I’ve ripped skin off more than a few times. Calendula Cream has been a key component in my recovery. It’s helped me heal and get back to my outdoor hobbies.
